KARAGIORGOS BROS. ABEE is one of the largest ginning companies in Greece. Founded in 1951 with the legal form of general partnership, it was converted in 1977 into a societe anonyme, with its first factory located in Anchialos, Thessaloniki.

Today, the second generation of the Karagiorgos family has taken the reins of the company and the company participates in other subsidiaries.

Cotton ginning is one of the dominant sectors of the Greek economy. Greece accounts for a significant part of world cotton production. The driving force behind this is the support of the European Union. Specifically, Greece and Spain are the only countries that produce and export cotton in Europe, with Greece accounting for 90% of total European cotton production.

The company participates in the following companies in cooperation with SIARKOS S.A.:

• KS VAMVAKOURGIA S.A. based in the Industrial Area of Drama
• GRAINS OF IMATHIA S.A. based in Alexandria, Imathia

The Group of Companies has 6 privately owned cotton mills, and others for rent which are located in Thessaly, Macedonia and Thrace. These mills collect cereals, in addition to the seeded cotton.

Our company is active in cotton ginning, cereal marketing, distribution and marketing of agricultural supplies and in RES-based electricity generation.

The company’s productive activity includes industrial units in all the main areas of cottonseed cultivation in Greece.

The company receives unginned cotton from producers-farmers and after the appropriate processing it produces the ginned cotton, which is the raw material for textile industries. The number of producers-farmers who cooperate with our company amounts to approximately 20,000. The company has 100 employees and an additional 400 seasonal employees.
